Roommates
To better accommodate your roommate preferences, you will be allowed to pull in other residents into available spaces in your room or apartment.
- You will only be able to pull in roommates who appear in your “Accepted Roommates” list in the online housing portal.
- Remind your roommates they should accept or decline the invitation by the end of your selection period timeframe, usually 10 a.m. Invitations not accepted will be purged to make room for other students looking for spaces.
- Roommates must accept the room invitation in the housing portal and submit advance rent or the contracting fee to complete the process and secure the space.
Advance Rent
A $250 (non-refundable) advanced rent payment is due to complete the contract renewal process for both on-campus apartments and residence halls. Payment must be made with a credit or debit card in the online housing portal within 24 hours of apartment/room reservation during the online renewal process. After 24 hours, reservations will be purged to make spaces available to other students.
The entire $250 will be applied toward regular rent in the fall. For those students that reserve a space, pay their fee bill, and move into their on-campus housing, advance rent will not cost any more money. However, those that cancel their assignment will forfeit the entire $250 advance rent amount, and are subject to the cancellation fee schedule.
Students who use scholarship money for their on-campus rent will need to pay the advance rent during the online renewal process with a credit or debit card. Advance rent will not affect the amount covered by scholarship. Once the scholarship funds are applied to the student’s fee bill, the entire housing charge will be paid, and any overage in the student account will be refunded to the student’s account.
The advance rent program is part of Residential Life’s concerted effort to keep apartment and residence hall spaces open and available to those students who are truly serious about staying on campus.
