LSU on-campus housing continues to work towards being a welcoming and inclusive home for every student.
June 11, 2020 - I understand many of you are hurting right now, especially those of you who hold Black identities. As we work through tough conversations and deep-rooted challenges, I want to remind you that almost 8,000 residents live in campus communities that seek multiple perspectives and embrace individual differences. We work to make your campus communities places to engage, disagree, discuss, grow, and learn from us and each other.
Actions which are contrary to building inclusive communities and which violate the Code of Student Conduct will not be tolerated in campus housing. Persons found responsible may go through the accountability with appropriate outcomes being assigned in line with the Code of Student Conduct, including the potential of being removed from on-campus housing.
Our goal is to support students who are victims of bias and discrimination. Now or at any time in your career at LSU, if you want to discuss or report any bias-related incident, contact your live-in residence coordinator (RC) or complete the online reporting form.
Again, let me be clear that life on campus is for all Tigers and the Department of Residential Life stands with all students against any act that says otherwise.
Residential Life at Louisiana State University is committed to creating an inclusive and respectful home for all members within our community. We hold ourselves responsible for cultivating and sustaining inclusive environments for our students, staff, and faculty; with intentional effort to honor and respect all identities including but not limited to: age, ability, color, creed, cultural background, ethnicity, family status, gender identity/expression, marital status, national origin, race, religious affiliation/spiritual affinity, sex, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, or veteran status. Through our Commitment to Community, we will mobilize to focus on equity and inclusion to enrich and enhance the educational, social, and emotional experiences of the members of our community.
We believe that bigotry and harassment in all its forms have no place in our communities, and there is no excuse – not fear, ignorance, religious bias, anger, humor, alcohol or substance abuse – that excuses or rationalizes oppressive behavior.
