The inaugural Scholarship First bus tour took a 1,000-mile winding route around Louisiana in what LSU President William F. Tate IV called "a listening tour and an awareness campaign all rolled into one."

Guiding Principles

Seek truth. Truth is foundational to society and the mission of the university.
Exhibit empathy. Once the truth is established, it is imperative to exhibit empathy where appropriate. Knowing the truth is important. Yet, the truth requires displaying empathy at times.
Demonstrate care. The pursuit of truth by colleagues operating in a caring fashion represents the hallmark of great university community. Add empathy and you know the place is special.

Imagine a university where scholarship is the primary objective. Scholarship reigns.
The immediate focus is on positioning LSU to be a place where scholarship grows and flourishes in a fashion consistent with the pressing needs of society.
Think more outstanding research, teaching, and learning. Try finding more resources to fund students’ scholarships. Embrace growing the scholar-athlete mindset.

Board of Supervisors Votes to Honor Black Pioneers: I am pleased to share that the LSU Board of Supervisors met today and voted unanimously to honor several remarkable individuals whose immeasurable impact on LSU merits lasting recognition. Lutrill and Pearl Payne, Dr. Pinkie Gordon Lane, and Julian T. White were pioneers in Black history and in the history of our university. They demonstrated perseverance and resilience in breaking down barriers to shape LSU into the university we are today. Their stories—and names—should inspire us to work tirelessly toward the future we want to see.
