Officers employed with the LSU Police Department participate in the Louisiana State Employees Retirement System (LASERS). Officers will participate in the Hazardous Duty Plan which has an accrual rate of 3 1/3% per year of service. Example; 99.9% of regular salary with 30 years of service. Officers can choose from several health insurance plans, including life insurance, dental and vision plans. Visit LSU Human Resources Office for further information on insurance.
Officers receive a yearly clothing allowance.
After one year of employment officers can participate in the Tuition Exemption Program.
Officers may receive up to 6 hours per semester tuition free.
All equipment is provided by the department.
