 Note: The Union Square Garage permits will be available to Law students and Residential students first.  Commuter students may request to be added to the Union Garage wait list by submitting a request to parking@lsu.edu 

Before you register, you will need: 

  • Your myLSU login ID and password
  • A valid USPS address (non-University address)
  • Your vehicle information (make, model, color, license plate number and state)

How to register for your permit:

  1. Access the Parking Portal
  2. Select "Get Permits" to begin
  3. Click "Affiliated Login"
  4. Login to your myLSU Account using your university affiliated username and password
  5. Click "Next" on the "Purchase a Permit" screen.
  6. Review the permits available based on your LSU classification.  Make a permit selection.
  7. Select all of the checkboxes and click "Next" to proceed.
  8. Enter your vehicle information by clicking "Add New Vehicle" or select all vehicles that apply.  
  9. Select or enter a preferred delivery option (USPS non-university mailing addresses only, not a PO Box) to receive your permit.  Please allow for 10-14 days for delivery.  
  10. Enter your valid email address and click "Pay Now".  All charges will be applied to your LSU Billing Account.
  11. Click "Print Permit" and open link in a separate window. 
  12. Print temporary permit and visibly display permit on the drivers/passenger side in the windshield/dashboard of your vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions: Faculty/Staff Employees

Q: Do I have to register online?
A: Yes, all benefits eligible employees must register online for parking. This list of eligible employees does not include transient, wage as earned, retiree, gratis, non-affiliate, and four/ten month employees.

Q: I am a retiree, can I purchase my permit online?  
A: No, retiree permits must be purchased from the Parking & Transportation Office.  The cost of the permit is $5 and must be paid at the time of pick up.  
 
Q: Why this year do I have to register online?  The permit is usually automatically renewed.
A: Going forth all vehicles must be registered and linked to a permit. This process provides a convenient and concise way to collect information and update old mailing addresses. It also helps with campus safety by assigning permits to vehicles.
 
Q: How many vehicles will I be able to register?
A: An unlimited amount of vehicles may be registered per permit.  We will require the state, license plate, make, model, and color of the vehicle. Rental vehicle information is required.  Email parking@lsu.edu when assistance is needed.  
 
Q: How do I update/edit my vehicle information? The portal will not let me.
A: Any changes or updates to vehicle information will require an email to parking@lsu.edu.

Q: I have a vanity license plate. How should I enter my license plate information in the portal?
A: Enter the license plate number with no dashes or spaces and without the vanity (i.e. LSU, Purple Heart). E-mail parking@lsu.edu with the vanity information and we will update your record. .

Q: My vehicle has a temporary license plate. What do I need to do?
A: Please provide the temporary license plate number for your vehicle and when the official plate arrives, email parking@lsu.edu to update the information.
 
Q: How will payroll deduction work? 
A: All payroll deduction will fall under a nine month deduct schedule regardless of classification type (18 deducts for classified/biweekly employees). This means there will be some months out of the year where no deduction will occur. Deduction is set at a monthly prorated schedule.
 
Q: I am a current C permits holder. Will I lose my C parking privileges?
A: Current C permit holders will retain their C parking privileges unless otherwise they choose to downgrade. C permit holders are encouraged to renew their C permit privilages ASAP in order to maintain their current C lot. 
 
Q: How do I add myself to a C-Lot waitlist?
A: The parking portal will allow you to add yourself to a waitlist and view at any time which lists you are included. At this time, the portal will not show your position on the list. Contact the parking office for detailed information.
 
Q: I did not receive a new gate access device. Will I be able to order one through online registration?
A: No, gate devices are distributed in person at the parking office and require a signature of release.
 
Q: How long will the parking permit remain open online?
A: Yes, the parking portal will remain open all year long for employees to order permits. All full-time benefits eligible employees will be required to purchase permits online. Payroll deduction will be on the only method of payment.
 
Q: In the past, I paid for my parking permit in full. I did not want to be payroll deducted. How can I accomplish this?
A: All full-time benefits eligible employees who purchase a parking permit will be set up with a parking payroll deduction. Part-time employees will be required to pay for their parking permit in full with a credit card online.  
 
Q: How many permits can I order online?
A: One permit per affiliate is allowed.
 
Q: How do I order my spouse’s permit through the parking portal (on-campus residents only)?
A: Spouse permits can only be purchased through the parking office. Vehicle registration will be required upon purchase.
 
Q: What if I ordered the wrong permit?
A: Return the permit to the Parking & Transportation Services office for an exchange. There will be a $10 replacement charge.
 
Q: My permit never arrived. How do I get a new one?
A: Parking is not liable or responsible for the actions of the mail. To receive a replacement parking permit there will be a payment of $10 to the parking office.
 
Q: I need a permit for my motorcycle. How do I get one?
A: Motorcycle permits may be purchased at the parking office.

Frequently Asked Questions: Students (Commuter/Residential/Greek/Law)

Q: How do I get a Union Square Garage permit?
A: This year priority for the Union Square Garage permit will be given to students registered to Paul M. Hebert Law Center and on-campus residents. Should Union Square Garage permits remain available after July 27, 2022, students on a waitlist will be given next priority.
 
Q: How do I get on the Union Square Garage waitlist?
A: Please send an email to parking@lsu.edu requesting addition to the waitlist.

A: To receive medical parking privileges either come to the parking office or email the most updated medical documents (handicap placard, mobility license, etc). The privileges will then be associated with both your specific student permit and vehicle.
 
Q: My permit never arrived. How do I get a new one?
A: Parking is not liable or responsible for the actions of the mail. To receive a replacement parking permit there will be a payment of $10 to the parking office.
 
Q: The parking portal will not let me purchase the type of permit I need. How do I fix this?
A: If your housing assignment or student registration is not complete it may cause issues. Please contact the parking office by email, phone, or in person to correct this.
 
Q: I missed my registration date. Will I still be able to order my parking permit online?
A: Yes, the parking portal will remain open all year long for students to order permits. Permits will be prorated monthly beginning in September.
 
Q: I need a permit for my motorcycle. How do I get one?
A: Motorcycle permits may be purchased at the parking office.
