The following trainings are offered by OSP through Human Resource Management Training Programs. Employees may sign up for classes through myLSU.

Introduction to Sponsored Programs

This presentation is intended to assist faculty and staff with a basic understanding of sponsored programs, from both a PI and departmental perspective. It provides fundamental guidance regarding sponsored programs including review of basic LSU policy, federal policy, proposal preparation, budget preparation, proposal routing, review, approval and submission as well as award and post-award procedures conducted by the Office of Sponsored Programs.

Sponsored Programs System

This presentation is intended to assist faculty and staff with an understanding of the Sponsored Programs System (SPS), from both a PI and departmental perspective. It will provide instruction on how to navigate the system, load proposal information, upload attachments and route proposals. View the Sponsored Programs System PowerPoint presentation.

Grants.gov Workspace

Grants.gov is the electronic system used to find and submit grant applications to federal agencies. This presentation is intended to assist faculty and staff with an understanding of Grants.gov and its new online application system Workspace for submitting federal grant applications. It will provide instruction on how to search the Grants.gov system, create a Workspace application package, and complete the package/online forms. NIH ASSIST

ASSIST is a web-based service used for the preparation and submission of National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant applications as an alternative to Grants.gov. This class will provide an overview of how to create an online application in ASSIST, navigate the online forms, enter and save the data, how to validate, and route for submission of the application. Sponsored Programs New Developments and Important Reminders

This presentation is intended to provide faculty and staff with information concerning important updates and clarifications regarding sponsored programs. It will provide guidance on new developments and important reminders from federal sponsors and LSU’s Office of Sponsored Programs, focusing on proposal submission. Topics covered change each session as new developments occur. The presentation is intended for faculty and staff that work on sponsored projects on a routine basis.

Submitted Activity Report

This presentation gives a basic overview of the Submitted Activity Report available through myLSU. It provides the criteria for the report and examples of how the information in SPS affects the report. It also provides an example of sorting the data to provide counts by department.
