Re:              FY 2017-18 Board of Regents (BoR) Departmental Enhancement proposals


The Board of Regents (BOR) has made substantial changes to the Enhancement Program.  To prepare for and organize the Departmental Enhancement proposal submissions according to the new requirements, the following timeline and procedures should be followed.  Questions/inquiries may be directed to osp@lsu.edu.


Timeline / Procedures:

09/18/2017                             An internal Notice of Intent is to be completed by all interested faculty in eligible disciplines using the online form at the following link:  NOI is closed.
09/19/2017 OSP will distribute Notices of Intent to Deans, Department Heads and Grant Coordinators of the eligible academic units.
09/19/2017 - 10/08/2017 Academic units will conduct their own internal reviews based on the submitted notices of intent and any subsequent information requested by the academic unit.  
10/09/2017 Academic units will submit a memorandum which identifies their selected Comprehensive Enhancement proposal, the Targeted Enhancement proposals in recommended rank order, and the list of all NOI reviewers for the academic unit, along with a brief project summary and estimated total requested funds for each proposal to osp@lsu.edu for coordination with and final approval by the Institutional Screening Committee.  In the case of a Department Chair being directly involved in a potential proposal, the Dean or his/her designee will make the recommendation.  (Template memorandum will be provided by OSP)
10/31/2017 Budget and Budget justifications are to be routed in SPS to OSP using budget templates available at:  http://lsu.edu/osp/proposals/bor-programs/bor-support-fund-programs-17-18.php
11/14/2017 Final proposals are due to BOR by 4:30 p.m. in LOGAN.  Investigators are responsible for loading all proposal elements in LOGAN, except the Institutional Screening Committee Memorandum which will be loaded by OSP.
Eligible Disciplines: Engineering B (Industrial, Materials, Mechanical), Biological Sciences, Health and Medical Sciences, Physics, Social Sciences, Humanities, Agricultural Sciences, Astronomy, Targeted Workforce.
