LSU First Year Experience to Host Welcome Week Program
BATON ROUGE – First Year Experience will be hosting Bengal Bound, LSU’s annual welcome week program, from Aug. 16 – Sept. 2. Open to all incoming first-year LSU students, the event also welcomes returning students. Bengal Bound is coordinated by the First Year Experience department, part of the Division of Student Affairs.
Bengal Bound provides a series of programs and activities designed to familiarize incoming students with campus, meet other students, and learn about departments, available support, services, opportunities, and a lot more. The celebration offers more than 100 events sponsored by departments and partners across campus.
According to Maggi Spurlock, senior program coordinator for FYE, “The primary goals of Bengal Bound are to provide opportunity for students to meet and to get know each other as well; expose first-year students to campus and community resources available to assist with their transition to the university; and reduce anxiety students may have about entering college. It’s become a real tradition.”
The Bengal Bound calendar is posted on the program website at http://lsu.edu/bengalbound along with downloadable desktop and cell phone backgrounds reflecting this year’s theme of “Define Yourself”.
