BATON ROUGE – One of the most anticipated events of the fall semester will take place Friday, Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the LSU Parade Ground. The LSU Fall Fest celebration ignites Tiger spirit in more than 30,000 new and returning students, faculty and staff to campus.
The annual event begins with food service and music at 11 a.m. Following, at noon, is the entrance of The Golden Band from Tigerland, LSU Golden Girls and LSU Cheerleaders and a welcome from LSU President F. King Alexander and Student Government President Zack Faircloth on the stage. Around 1 p.m., LSU will announce the 2016 Homecoming Court and reveal the Homecoming Concert artist.
Following performances by the band, LSU spirit squads and the Tiger Girls, LSU will host several LSU Greek chapters, student organizations and independent solo and group performances for the last hour of the show.
More than 110 tables representing both campus units, student organizations and area businesses sponsoring the event will be set up along the Parade Ground tree line nearest the LSU Student Union and along Highland Road. The booths provide information, demonstrations and giveaways. Several games and activities will also be available, including University Recreation's rock climbing wall.
Those in attendance will be served their choice of free hamburgers, sausage po-boys, vegetarian burgers and chips at the Food Court located near the middle of the Parade Ground. Other treats will be served, including popsicles from LSU Dining, ice cream from the LSU AgCenter Dairy Store, samples from Smoothie King and Leroy’s Lip Smackin’ Lemonade and Kona Ice snowballs. Sponsors will also be giving away various food and drink items and giveaways in their booths.
Continuing with the eco-friendly efforts of LSU Sustainability, Fall Fest participants will be encouraged to recycle their waste in marked receptacles.
LSU Fall Fest is made possible thanks to generous donations to the university by sponsors American Campus Communities/BatonRougeStudentLiving.com, Campus Federal Credit Union and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. Additionally, in-kind donations were made to LSU Fall Fest by the Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company, LSU Auxiliary Services, and LSU Dining.
