BATON ROUGE – The LSU Department of Theatre will present its 2014 Fall Dance Concert on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m., in the Reilly Theater. The concert features the LSU Dance Ensemble with choreography by Sandra Parks, head of dance, along with LSU Dance Instructors Blair Buras, Christine Chrest and Susan Perils.
The concert will feature a new, contemporary work by Parks set to the music of Sergei Prokofiev accompanied by live performances from LSU School of Music faculty members including Associate Professor of Clarinet Deborah Chodacki, Associate Professor of Oboe Johanna Cox and Associate Professor of Double Bass Yung-chiao Wei, along with doctoral students Alicia Monroe on viola and Marianna Krewer on violin.
Additionally, Susan Perlis, instructor of ballet, has created a piece incorporating the idea of audience interaction. Christine Chrest, instructor of modern dance, will investigate the circular experience of time in a piece featuring guest artist Mary Bayle. Blair Buras, instructor of jazz, will showcases intriguing, up-tempo movements as an expression of the human conformity to social norms.
Tickets range from $12 to $18, and can be obtained from the LSU Box Office by calling 225-578-3527 or by visiting www.theatre.lsu.edu. Tickets can also be purchased in person at box office locations within the LSU Union Theatre and the Music & Dramatic Arts Building on Dalrymple Drive. On performance nights, tickets will also be on sale at the Reilly Theatre Box Office. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. In addition, season subscriptions are also available through the box office or the LSU Theatre website.
