BATON ROUGE – Linda Bonnin has been named LSU’s vice president for strategic communications, pending approval by the LSU Board of Supervisors. She will report directly to LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander.

Bonnin comes to LSU from the University of Memphis, where she has worked since 1997. She was named vice president for communications, public relations and marketing at the University of Memphis in 2012 after serving as its associate vice president for 12 years.

The position Bonnin will hold is a consolidation of chief communications jobs at both the flagship campus and the system office. This consolidated position follows similar moves combining the President and Chancellor, as well as the system and campus chief financial officer posts. Bonnin will lead LSU’s public relations, marketing, media relations, web, social media and related communications functions, as well as overseeing multi-institutional branding.

“After an intensive search, we are pleased to announce that Linda Bonnin was selected for this leadership role. She is experienced in all of the areas that are important to LSU,” said Alexander.

In addition to her higher education background, Bonnin also has experience in the private sector, government and media. She has won numerous awards from professional associations for her work in advertising, video, publications and marketing.

“A lot of great things are happening at LSU, and I’m excited about being part of it,” said Bonnin. “I look forward to working with Dr. Alexander and his talented team to expand LSU’s influence and communicate its many successes.”

A Memphis native, Bonnin is a graduate of Harding University.
