BATON ROUGE – The food truck phenomenon that has been roaring across the nation has finally driven its way into the heart of LSU. For the very first time, the LSU community will see food trucks around campus serving up delicious dishes to hungry Tigers all week long.
On Aug. 25, the food truck Taco Churro rolled up its window in front of Lockett Hall as students came back to campus to start the 2014-15 academic year. The custom food truck operates through LSU Dining by Chartwells.
The Taco Churro’s food truck offers an array of Tex-Mex options including burritos, tacos and a burrito in a bowl. It also offers extras, such as chips and guacamole.
Taco Churro is open for breakfast, lunch and early dinner Monday – Thursday from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Fridays from 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
LSU Dining by Chartwells officials have said that they are in the process of bringing a second food truck to campus, tentatively set for September. The second food truck will feature recipes including red beans and rice, gumbo and jambalaya. The second truck will have the same operating hours as the Taco Churro truck.
Both vehicles are subcontracted through local food and concessions company Triple B’s.
To keep up with where the food trucks will be located, as well as to find out when they will begin accepting TigerCash and Paw Points, follow LSU Dining by Chartwells on Facebook at www.facebook.com/LSUDining.
