BATON ROUGE – The LSU Olinde Career Center will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to
celebrate the grand opening of its new location in the LSU Student Union on Tuesday,
Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. in the Union’s Live Oak Lounge. The event will conclude with a
reception and self-guided tours of the facility.
The LSU Olinde Career Center Director Mary Feduccia will preside over the ceremony,
which will include LSU President and Chancellor Dr. F. King Alexander, Student Life
& Enrollment Vice Chancellor Kurt Keppler, Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development
Stephen Moret and LSU Student Body President Clay Tufts.
The commemoration of this state-of-the-art facility is significant, as it marks the
first time in nearly 30 years that the Career Center staffs from employment services
and student services have resided in the same building. The LSU Olinde Career Center,
formerly Career Services, changed its name in January and officially moved into the
former LSU Bookstore space in the Student Union on Aug. 22.
The redesigned space spans 17,000 square feet on two floors. The first floor houses
staff offices and student services, in addition to the Cale P. Smith Student Financial
Management Center. The second floor recruitment center includes 22 interview rooms
for the On-Campus Interviewing Program, as well as the Humphrey T. Olinde Executive
Conference Room, the Career Classroom and Campus Life student organization space.
Additional media wanting to attend the ceremony are encouraged to make arrangements with the LSU Olinde Career Center or LSU University Relations. For more information, contact Kenissa McKay at 225-578-2162 or Kenissa@lsu.edu, or Billy Gomila at 225-578-3867 or email@example.com.
