BATON ROUGE – Andrew Gutierrez, a native of Metairie and a graduating senior in the summer 2014 LSU graduating class, was the recipient of the prestigious LSU University Medal, the only one of 657 graduating seniors in the class to receive the honor.

The event was held as part of the university’s 284th commencement exercises on Aug. 8. The medalists were also recognized during the main commencement ceremony in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
