BATON ROUGE – The International Hospitality Foundation, or IHF, invites the public
to enjoy “Annie,” the musical coined as a timeless story with unforgettable songs
and classic characters, at Theatre Baton Rouge on Wednesday, June 18.
Performance tickets are $25 each and include a dessert reception prior to the 7:30
p.m. curtain time. All proceeds will go to benefit IHF. For tickets, call 225-578-3015
or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
A tradition at LSU for more than 50 years, IHF’s Friendship Family Program has been
connecting international students to Baton Rouge and the United States through local
volunteer Friendship Hosts who, in turn, have been able to know another part of the
world through their experiences with their guests. A 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization,
IHF serves LSU’s current enrollment of some 1,600 international students from more
than 100 countries, connecting students who want to participate with local host families.
The students do not reside with the host families, but rather hosts stay in contact
with the students, providing friendship, advice and a way to be involved in the local
community. These relationships often last long past a student’s graduation, building
bridges between Baton Rouge and cities all around the globe. IHF hosts welcome parties
each semester and sponsors a Loan Closet where international students can purchase
low-cost household items and supplies donated by the community. IHF depends on financial
support from the community to fund its programs.
