BATON ROUGE – On Tuesday, Oct. 15, Ryan Bilbo and Secretary Kathy Kliebert accepted
the Vision Award on behalf of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. The
award, presented at the 2013 Esri Health GIS Conference, is given to an organization
that has gone beyond the traditional use of geographic information systems within
a health or human services organization. The conference, held Oct. 14-16, was attended
by health and human service leaders from several states and countries.
Bilbo is a two-time alumnus of the E. J. Ourso College of Business, having earned
his bachelor’s degree in economics in 2003, and his Master of Public Administration
from the LSUMPA Program in 2009.
“DHH received the Vision Award for our ongoing efforts that were highlighted in Secretary
Kliebert’s presentation at the conference, ‘GIS: Not Just About Maps, How Data Visualization
Changes the Health Business,’” Bilbo said.
According to Bilbo, at the conference, attendants are given the opportunity to collaborate
with fellow attendees and industry leaders, explore essential technology for health
and human services, give feedback and receive technical guidance.
