British Philosopher Roger Scruton to Speak at LSU Oct. 1

BATON ROUGE – British philosopher Roger Scruton will be speaking on his latest book, “How to Think Seriously about the Planet,” on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 5 p.m. in Howe Russell Hall, Room 130, also known as “the Geology Auditorium.” Faculty, students and the entire LSU community are invited to attend.

Scruton is currently visiting professor in the School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies at the University of St. Andrews, where he teaches every spring term. He is also visiting professor in philosophy at the University of Oxford, leading a graduate seminar during the autumn term. He is also a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington and a contributing editor to The New Atlantis.

The event is being sponsored by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute at LSU, the Eric Voegelin Society for American Renaissance Studies, the LSU Department of Political Science, the LSU Department of History, the LSU Alumni Association, and PSIF funds from Student Government.
