BATON ROUGE –Luis A. Escobar, a professor in the LSU College of Agriculture’s Department of Experimental Statistics, was recently named the recipient of an important nationwide statistics award, the 2013 American Society for Quality, Statistics Division, William G. Hunter Award.
Escobar will receive the award on Oct. 17, at the Fall Technical Conference in San Antonio.
The William G. Hunter Award is presented annually in honor of William G. Hunter, founding chairman of the Statistics Division, and is awarded to a person whose qualities mirror those of Hunter. This includes substantial contributions to statistical consulting, education for practitioners and integration of statistics with other disciplines, as well as demonstrated excellence in communication and implementing innovative applied statistical methods.
