BATON ROUGE – On Friday, Aug. 2, the LSU Police Department, in partnership with the
Baton Rouge Police Department, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the Louisiana
State Police and the FBI will be conducting an Active Shooter Training. This training
will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. at University Laboratory School, or U-High,
on the LSU campus.
The training will consist of classroom instruction as well as scenario-based training.
Personnel from all of the agencies will be participating in the training. While LSUPD
would be the primary responding agency should a real-life situation such as this occur
on campus, BRPD, EBRSO, LSP and the FBI would play important roles in the response
as well. Integrated training such as this is an important step in preparation for
response to active shooters.
LSU Police Department and all agencies involved are committed to being as prepared
as possible for these types of incidents and part of that commitment is training jointly
with those who work with LSU Police.
