BATON ROUGE – The LSU chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta will hold its annual initiation for new members on Wednesday, April 24, at 5 p.m. in the Cotillion Ballroom of the LSU Student Union.

Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society for first-year students, recognizing those with grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher, and rank in the top 20 percent of their class. As a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, students have access to more than $190,000 in scholarships and fellowships, are recognized as a top scholar at LSU in one of the oldest national honors societies in the country and have an opportunity to develop their leadership skills as a chapter officer. This year’s initiation will mark Alpha Lambda Delta’s 80th year at LSU and recognize more than 200 students. Additionally, the LSU chapter is reactivating its sophomore scholarship, awarding two students $500 towards their fall semester for the upcoming academic year.

The LSU chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta is advised by Elva Bourgeois, instructor of textile science, apparel design and merchandising in the LSU School of Human Ecology, and Missy Korduner, assistant director of the LSU First Year Experience. For more information, contact Bourgeois at or Korduner at
