BATON ROUGE – The LSU Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute, or SEI, will take part in Wounded Warrior Weekend, which will be held April 10-14. Specifically, SEI will conduct a session to acquaint veterans with the fundamentals of starting their own businesses. Titled Entrepreneurial Bootcamp, the SEI session will be held Friday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at the National WWII Museum.

According to LSU Executive Education Director Robin Kistler, the five-day event will see local business and civic leaders focus on filling jobs and creating new business opportunities for returning veterans in the coming weeks as they show appreciation to a group of 10 wounded warriors injured during the war against global terrorism.

“There will be multiple events during which community organizations and businesses will mentor veterans – workshops, networking events and a job fair in particular,” Kistler said. “We are participating in this as a member of the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities consortium that we have been a part of since 2010.”

In addition to the Hiring Our Heroes jobs fair and entrepreneurial bootcamp, the wounded warriors will be feted at a series of events co-hosted by New Orleans’ most successful corporations and leaders. Included among the sponsors are the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business; Herman Miller; Humana; Aaron Dirks Limousine Livery; USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment; Camp LeJeune, N.C.; National WWII Museum; U.S. National Chamber of Commerce; New Orleans City Chamber of Commerce; American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars; University of New Orleans; New Orleans Steamship Company; New Orleans Hornets; The Blackhawk Flight Foundation; Ebbert & Associates; John Besh Restaurants; Superior Energy; Capital One Bank; The City of New Orleans, La.; Global Hunter Securities; Blanchard Co.; and others.
