LSU Student Incubator Venture Challenge Finalists Announced

BATON ROUGE- Four finalists have been selected to pitch in the Second Annual LSU Student Incubator Venture Challenge on April 19, from 3 p.m.-6 p.m., at the Crowne Plaza Baton Rouge. The Venture Challenge showcases LSU’s brightest student entrepreneurs and provides their businesses with access to the capital and resources needed to achieve long-term success.

A total of 18 student teams submitted business plans in the first round of the competition. A panel of 15 judges, consisting of local business professionals and entrepreneurs, evaluated and scored the plans.

The four finalists are:


Outlet-level control and electricity monitoring accessible from anywhere - paired with an interactive energy efficiency shopping guide so you can econofy your home or office.

A modernized gourmet cupcakery in the LSU area that is ready to branch out with a contemporary cupcake truck and cutting-edge vending machines.

Rock Water
The only doctor formulated drink designed to aid in kidney stone prevention.

Supedup Auto LLC

A mobile automobile cleaning and detailing services company serving local businesses as well as residential customers in Louisiana.

In the final round of the Venture Challenge, each business will present their plans in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. A total of $25,000 will be distributed among the four finalists at the awards reception following the Venture Challenge where there will also be a showcase to highlight some of the startups in the LSU Student Incubator. Launched in September 2010, the LSU Student Incubator assists students with business idea development so they can have their business as a career option after graduation. The program supports more than 50 student-run startups annually by providing one-on-one consulting, business planning software, mentors and speakers from the business community, an Elevator Pitch Competition, the Venture Challenge, and other valuable resources needed to start and grow a business. The LSU Student Incubator is a program of the Louisiana Business & Technology Center, or LBTC, at the LSU Innovation Park which endeavors to enhance economic development in Louisiana through the support of existing small businesses and the development of new businesses.
