BATON ROUGE – Located on Raphael Semmes Road between Highland Road and East Campus Drive, the new parking garage at LSU Union Square is now open. The nearly 750 parking spaces will be divided among student parking, faculty and staff parking, and paid meter parking, with access to the garage from East Campus Drive.
Faculty and staff parking is available on the first floor of the new parking garage. Paid metered parking is also available on the second, third and fourth floors for $1.50 per hour every day from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Student parking is located on the fifth and sixth floors of the garage, and the wand-accessed parking is reserved around-the-clock for assigned permits only.
Due to issues beyond LSU’s control, the garage opening was delayed. Students who paid for assigned parking in the new garage will be credited $40 to offset the six-week delay in opening.
LSU Union Square features the area of campus bounded by Dalrymple Drive, Tower Drive, East Campus Drive and South Campus Drive, and includes the new Barnes & Noble university bookstore; the Club at LSU Union Square, formerly the LSU Faculty Club; the parking garage; the recently renovated LSU Student Union and Union Theater; and connecting outdoor spaces. A new Women’s Center and African American Cultural Center are scheduled to be complete and open by the summer of 2013.
