LSU Board to Re-Address Consolidation of President and Chancellor Positions in December

BATON ROUGE – The LSU Board of Supervisors will re-address the issue of consolidating the positions of President of the LSU System and the Chancellor of LSU at its next meeting in December after a letter from the Attorney General’s office expressed concerns about whether the Board may have erred in its procedural actions at a meeting in October.

The Board in October unanimously approved the consolidation of the two positions into one “President of LSU” position, but the letter questioned whether the Board followed proper protocol by advertising in advance the intent to vote on the consolidation for a sufficient amount of time.

“We were acting in the best interests of LSU in consolidating these two positions at that time in order to move forward the search for a new leader of LSU,” said Hank Danos, chairman of the LSU Board of Supervisors.  “Since the LSU Board does not want there to be any question about this important action, we will reconsider and take action on combining the positions at our December meeting.”
