BATON ROUGE – Richard D. White Jr., dean of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business,
had his biography, “Will Rogers: A Political Life,” reviewed in the September 2012
issue of The Journal of American History.
According to the journal, White’s book makes fine use of periodical literature and
archival material to “animate Rogers’s political life through his correspondence and
the profusion of talks, syndicated columns, articles and radio broadcasts that quickly
made his words nearly as likely to appear in the Congressional Record as over the
radio or in the hundreds of newspapers that carried his columns.”
The Journal of American History is published four times a year by the Organization
of American Historians and is the leading scholarly publication and the journal record
in American History.
“Will Rogers: A Political Life” was published by Texas Tech University Press in February
2011. In the biography, White chronicles Rogers’ life as a political commentator,
newspaper columnists, radio commentator, globetrotting speaker and political confidant
of several presidents of the United States.
