BATON ROUGE – Members of the LSU Museum of Art and the media are invited to the opening night event for the museum's newest exhibition, “Uniquely Louisiana,” on Friday, Aug. 10. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will be held in the LSU Museum of Art, located on the fifth floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St.
“Uniquely Louisiana,” celebrates the state’s 200th anniversary and explores the many ways contemporary artists portray and are inspired by Louisiana’s unique plant and animal life. The exhibition is comprised of more than 50 paintings, prints, sculptures, mixed media and video installations by artists including David Bates, Brad Bourgoyne, Michael Crespo, Courtney Egan, David Humphreys, Kathryn Hunter and Ed Smith.
Louisiana Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne will be the special guest speaker at the opening event, discussing Louisiana’s bicentennial. Dardenne is scheduled to speak at 6:45 p.m.
The exhibit will be on display at the LSU Museum of Art from Aug. 11 through Nov. 11.
