BATON ROUGE – The application period for the Grants for North American Language and Culture Assistants in Spain for the 2012-2013 school year opened on Nov. 7, and will run through March 31, 2012. Selected participants will travel to Spain to serve as English language assistants for teachers in K-12 public schools, teaching English as a second language for a full school year.

The program is facilitated by the Spanish Resource Center at LSU, which supports Spanish teacher education and artistic activities related to the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures.

Candidates will be selected on a first come, first served basis. Candidates must be recent graduates or college students in their junior or senior years, hold U.S. or Canadian citizenship and have English as their first language. Early application will increase candidates’ chances of securing positions and of going to their preferred region in Spain.
