Dr. Srividya “Srivi” Ramasubramanian is associate dean for climate and inclusion in the College of Liberal Arts and associate professor of communication at Texas A&M University. She is a media psychologist who specializes in media literacy, intergroup/intercultural communication, cultural diversity, and media stereotyping. Her research examines how stereotypes and counter-stereotypes in popular culture shape everyday attitudes about race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality. Recent projects explore digital media literacy in transmedia global contexts, media-based strategies for reducing implicit and explicit racial prejudice, role of mindfulness in prejudice reduction, critical big data analysis for social justice, and cross-sector partnerships for media activism. She teaches courses on media theories, cultural diversity, media audiences, children and media and media effects. As the associate dean for climate and inclusion, she facilitates efforts to enhance the college’s climate, oversees diversity-related initiatives, advises the dean on all matters related to climate and inclusion, and serves as a resource to 12 department heads and five program directors.
