Dr. Francis is an assistant professor at LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication. Francis’s research interests are centered in health communication, particularly, on how to utilize traditional and digital media to promote health in diverse communities. Francis’s research covers a range of topics, notably HIV/AIDS prevention and cancer prevention and survivorship. Francis's work has been published in several peer-reviewed outlets including Preventive Medicine, Social Science and Medicine, Journal of Health Communication, and Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, among others.
