Bob Anderson has won more than 50 state, regional and national awards for investigative reporting, environmental coverage, feature writing and general news reporting. He has been honored by the Washington Journalism Center, National Journalism Center, Scripps Howard Foundation and National Science Foundation and his work has been nominated for Pulitzers. His column, “Through a Glass Darkly," was chosen Best Regular Column by the Louisiana Press Association in 2012.

Anderson began writing for weekly newspapers while a sophomore in high school and was a news editor and later managing editor of The Daily Reveille while at LSU. After serving in the U.S. Army he spent more than 40 years as a daily newspaper reporter, editor and bureau chief before retiring from The Advocate. His work has also been published in magazines and books.

As an adjunct professor at LSU for more than a decade, Anderson has taught basic and advanced journalism courses focusing on writing and news gathering. Previously he taught environmental journalism in seminars in Eastern Europe. Married, with three children and five grandchildren, he spends much of his free time reading, building things and writing poetry and fiction.
