The Technical Architecture group (TA) includes University Networking & Infrastructure, Research & Educational Technology Services, and Security & Policy. TA is also home to LSU Emergency Management, the LSU Office of Risk Management, and the LONI initiative (the Louisiana Optical Network Infrastructure), the statewide optical network funded by the Board of Regents.
The TA group is primarily concerned with developing, managing, and securing the IT resources and infrastructure that comprise the fabric of LSU’s enterprise technology infrastructure and the management and planning around Risk and Emergency Management at the Baton Rouge campus. Technology is an underlying layer that enables every aspect of the mission of the University. Along with its essential benefits comes significant risk that often results in adverse events and incidents that need to be managed using standard and recognized approaches.
Technology and the management of that technology are an essential component for the conduct of research, and the enablement of learning and innovation. TA’s activities range from high performance computing support within the Research & Educational Technology group, to authentication via myLSU’s single sign on, to managing worker’s compensation within Risk Management in order to provision enterprise infrastructure, to ensuring the integrity of both the University and state-wide networks, the mitigation/transfer of threats and risk, while enabling growth and technological advancement within the University.
