Laura Dean Hired As New Director of International Student Engagement
International Programs has named Laura Dean as the new director of international student engagement. In her previous role at Florida State University, Laura worked to develop, expand and facilitate programming that fostered more cohesive bonds between the international and domestic communities on FSU’s campus.
As the director of international student engagement, she will continue that work by providing support, community, and advocacy on behalf of international students at LSU to better incorporate them into the campus community. A part of that mission will include working with academic colleges and departments to develop comprehensive programming aimed at facilitating better academic and cultural experiences for international students at LSU. Laura will also be responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive international orientation program for undergraduate and graduate students.
At FSU, Laura was responsible for the integration of 2000 international students and scholars. Outside of her academic and professional achievements, Dean’s upbringing uniquely qualifies her for this position. She grew up as a Third Culture Kid having been raised in England, Germany, Hong Kong S.A.R. P.R., Switzerland, and the United States.
Laura will officially begin her duties on July 19.
