When requesting a Material Transfer Agreement for pathogens, review the select agent and toxins list and complete the Select Agent Certification form. Select agents and toxins require substantial paperwork and federal involvement, and must be registered with the LSU Office of Environmental Health & Safety. They cannot be transferred to or from LSU without the prior approval of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as from Mike Durham, Director, Environmental Health and Safety. Many of these agents will also require a permit from the CDC, USDA, or both to ship or receive the agents across state lines. If you are transferring or receiving any agent on this list, genetically modified or otherwise, or a recombinant DNA construct of any virus on the list that can encode infectious and/or replicate competent virus particles, call Mike Durham at 578-8507 to coordinate the transfer.
