Biography

Sunny Yang is an Assistant Professor in English specializing in multi-ethnic American literatures. She received her Ph.D. in English with a certificate in Africana Studies from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014 and was a Visiting Scholar at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences from 2014-2015. Her current book project, Fictions of Territoriality, examines the competing narratives of race, rights, and governance that emerged from U.S. imperial expansion in the long nineteenth century.
