Biography
Timothy Maguder has been an Instructor of English at LSU since the Fall of 2021. He
earned an MFA in Writing from Columbia University in 2017, after many years in the
fine arts world, as both interdisciplinary artist and curator. He is a published poet,
sports writer, and has exhibited his multimedia work at Art Basel Miami and New Paris
Gothic.
At LSU, Timothy has served on both Faculty Advocacy and Grade Appeal Committees. His
courses tend to be an amalgam of art, film and literature, with an emphasis on visual
analysis and the careful navigation of controversial topics. The consistent, central
objectives within his courses (Sculpting the Argument, Excavating Evil & Embracing
the Absurd) are critical thinking development, and promoting adequate research into
opposing viewpoints.
