Biography

Timothy Maguder has been an Instructor of English at LSU since the Fall of 2021. He earned an MFA in Writing from Columbia University in 2017, after many years in the fine arts world, as both interdisciplinary artist and curator. He is a published poet, sports writer, and has showcased his text, video & performance work at Art Basel Miami, and New Paris Gothic.

At LSU, Timothy has served on both Faculty Advocacy and Grade Appeal Committees. His courses tend to be an amalgam of art, media and literature, by emphasizing visual analysis, along with the careful navigation of controversial topics within history, fiction and current events. The consistent, central goals within his courses (Sculpting the Argument, The Art of Biographical Cinema, Excavating Evil, & Unpacking the Auteur), are in promoting independent thought, while requiring adequate research into opposing viewpoints.
