Joseph G. Kronick is Chair of the Department of English and Director of Jewish Studies at Louisiana State University. His research has focused on nineteenth-century and modern American literature, with an emphasis on non-fiction prose and poetry, and on philosophy and literature. His recent work has focused on ethics in literature and philosophy. He is the author of American Poetics of History: From Emerson to the Moderns and Derrida and the Future of Literature, as well as over forty essays and articles.
