Biography
Ashlynn Wittchow taught English and creative writing in secondary schools in South Carolina for several years before completing her PhD in English education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is now an assistant professor at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Inspired by several summers as a graduate student at the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College, she wrote her dissertation, which she is now revising as a book project, on the history of posthuman pedagogies and the environmental humanities at Bread Loaf, where she is an alumna of the Bread Loaf Teacher Network. She also serves as the current chair of the ELATE Commission on the History of English Education. Her historical research and her teacher research have yielded articles and chapters published and forthcoming in English Education, English Journal, and professional volumes in press with NCTE.
