Louisiana residency for tuition purposes is governed by Permanent Memorandum 31, and determined by the LSU Office of Admissions.
Students must meet all of the requirements below to be classified a Louisiana resident for tuition purposes at LSU:
- The student has been domiciled in Louisiana continuously for at least a year immediately preceding the first day of classes of the term for which resident classification is sought; and
- The student has not been enrolled in a Louisiana post-secondary education institution during this period of time, except through a program providing dual-secondary and post-secondary education credit; and
- The student has abandoned all prior domiciles.
Complete the Residency Form to determine eligibility.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org for additional assistance.
Incoming students should consult with their advisors before scheduling courses. Students are responsible for knowing and observing registration deadlines.
The Tiger Card is the official identification card of LSU. The Tiger Card is issued to students, faculty, staff, university retirees, university guests and more.
The Tiger Card can be obtained on the 1st floor of the LSU Student Union. Along with identification, the Tiger Card is also used for building/dorm access, laundry, printing, vending, off- and on-campus vendors, dining services, library book check-out, discounts and is now an official form of ID when voting in Louisiana!
All new graduate students use the MyLSU web portal to view and pay their fee bill online. Students must meet deadlines to avoid potential registration issues.
This option is available in the menu on the left side, under Registration Services | Fee Bill. Once you submit your fee bill and complete registration, you’re officially a Tiger!
