Jeffrey Roland

Welcome

I'm an associate professor of philosophy in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Louisiana State University. I received my PhD in philosophy (with a concentration in mathematics) from Cornell University, located in beautiful Ithaca, NY. While at Cornell, I spent a good bit of time in the mathematics department studying logic. I received my BA from the University of Minnesota, where I studied philosophy and mathematics.  My CV is available in html and pdf formats.  My Erdös number is 10.

Research

I work in epistemology, logic, philosophy and foundations of mathematics, and philosophy of science.  I'm particularly concerned with questions in the metaphysics and epistemology of mathematics (specifically set theory) and the foundations of philosophical naturalism.  You can find copies of some of my papers using the navigation menu at the left.

Teaching

I mainly teach courses in epistemology and logic.  I also periodically teach  courses in philosophy of mathematics, metaphysics, philosophy of language, and philosophy of science.  You can find some student resources, including resources for two of the logic courses I regularly teach (PHIL 1021 and PHIL 2010), using the navigation menu at the left.
