Openings and Closures

LSU will be partially open Wednesday through Friday:

  • Intersession term will continue.
  • The Hebert Law Center and School of Veterinary Medicine will open for classes Wednesday, but all other academic units will be closed including Middleton and Hill Memorial Libraries.
  • Deans’ offices and the Office of Academic Affairs will be open.
  • The Lab School and Child Care Center will remain closed through Sunday, Aug 21.
  • All other employees will be contacted by their supervisors if they are required to report to work.

Activities and services available Wednesday through Friday:

  • LSU will begin welcoming new Tigers into the residence halls at 8 a.m. People wishing to volunteer for Move-In are encouraged to check-in at 210 Grace King Hall after 7 a.m.
  • Tigers are free to move in any day between Wednesday and Sunday.
  • Orientation for new Tigers will begin at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Student Union.
  • Financial Aid for students participating in Orientation and/or Move-In will be operating from Thomas Boyd Hall in addition to the Registrar’s Office, Bursar Operations, and Disability Services.
  • On Thursday and Friday, the Financial Aid office will be open in Thomas Boyd Hall specifically for the needs of students requesting deferments and emergency fund applications.
  • The application deadline for Fall 2016 enrollment has been changed to Thursday, Aug. 25.
  • The LSU Union will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 
  • The Tiger Card office in the Union will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide student ID cards to students who are already on campus and in need of a card.
  • The LSU Bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 
  • The UREC hours will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, UREC will be open from 6:30 to 8 a.m., closed from 8 a.m. to noon, and reopen from noon to 9:30 p.m.
  • Both LSU Dining Halls -- The 5 and The 459 -- will be open 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday to Monday. Meal plans will be activated on Wednesday, Aug 17. Additional dining options and hours can be found at www.dineoncampus.com/lsu/show.cfm?cmd=_hours.
  • Tiger Trails and Campus Transit is not in service Wednesday. Tiger Trails and Campus Transit will be running reduced service Thursday and Friday.
  • The Veterinary Teaching Hospital has a limited staff but is open for emergencies. If you have an animal emergency, do not go straight to the hospital; please call ahead at 225-578-9600 for pets and small exotics or 225-578-9500 for horses and farm animals. The hospital will start taking appointments on Tuesday as well as being open for emergencies.   • The LSU Rural Life Museum is open.
  • The LSU Welcome event for freshmen will be held on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at the PMAC, as previously scheduled.
  • Note that many other previously scheduled campus events have been postponed or canceled.

Activities and events open on Tuesday

The LSU Union will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, not all food vendors and restaurants in the Union will be open. CC’s coffee house in the Union will be open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Chick-fil-A in the Union will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Tiger Card office in the Union will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide student ID cards to students who are already on campus and in need of a card.

The LSU Bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, Starbucks in the Union will NOT be open.

The UREC will be open from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The dining halls will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the first meal, and from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the second meal. Students will be asked to swipe their LSU ID cards upon entering.

UREC will be open 2-7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14 and open at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15.
