Mohammad Honored as TRB Member Emeritus

Mohammad recieving awardIrma Louise Rush Stewart Distinguished Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Louay Mohammad was recently honored with the highest level of peer recognition upon his selection as a member emeritus of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committee on Surface Requirements of Asphalt Mixtures.

Mohammad was appointed because of his continued leadership and dedication to TRB standing committees, as well as being an effective ambassador in the subject of highway construction materials, pavement design and analysis, and infrastructure sustainability.

“TRB established the emeritus membership category to recognize the significant and long-term contributions of individuals who have provided outstanding service through participation in our standing committees,” said Executive Director at Transportation Research Board Neil Pedersen.

Mohammad has been in TRB's asphalt materials section for more than 18 years, including as chair of committee AFK40 from 2007 to 2013. The TRB emeritus honor is the first designation for an active (not retired) faculty member at LSU.
