April 28, 2020

Cristina Sabliov headshotBATON ROUGE, LA – LSU Biological Engineering Richard R. and Betty S. Fenton Alumni Professor Cristina Sabliov recently received a Fulbright award to teach and conduct research in Romania. Sabliov, a Romania native, plans to share her knowledge of polymeric nanoparticles as delivery systems with students at the University of Transylvania Brasov (UTB), where she will also conduct research.

“I am very proud to be part of the elite U.S. faculty selected by the Core Fulbright Scholar Program to teach and conduct research abroad,” Sabliov said. “It is also my goal to mentor students and young investigators at UTB by offering a series of professional development workshops. I am convinced that my work at cultural and scientific interfaces is crucial in shaping my own research program in LSU’s Biological & Agricultural Engineering Department, and I am looking forward to the experience.”

The program, initially slated to take place this summer, has been rescheduled for summer 2021 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers approximately 470 teaching, research or combination teaching/research awards in more than 125 countries. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators, as well as professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars, and many others. The Fulbright Program is governed by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB), the 12-member board appointed by the U.S. president.
