Congratulations to LSU ECE Assistant Professor Dr. Xugui Zhou on receiving a National Science Foundation (NSF) RII EPSCoR Research Fellows Award! This award supports Dr. Zhou’s research to advance vehicle safety in collaboration with researchers at UCLA. His project focuses on detecting and preventing hidden system failures in advanced vehicle technologies before they lead to roadway accidents.

Students Seun Adeniran, Ehsan Shourangiz, Wajid A. Zahid, and Professor Yanyu Wang recently conducted fieldwork at the LSU Rural Life Museum. Using a LiDAR scanner to collect 3D data, and with a grant from Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, the goal is to create digital twins that can help preserve, maintain, and potentially rebuild these structures if they are damaged by severe weather such as windstorms or hurricanes.

Ph.D. students Cameron Bachar and Somtochukwu Anyaorah are showcasing department-led advances in materials, catalysis, and environmental engineering at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Fall Meeting in Chicago. Director of Graduate Studies Kevin McPeak is also representing the department and connecting with prospective students interested in pursuing fully funded doctoral research opportunities.
