L.D.W.F. Announces Locations and Times to Assist Commercial Fishermen and Seafood Dealers in Competing Cooperative Research Surveys
Posted: 7/17/09

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) economists and representatives of the South Central Planning and Development Commission (SCPDC) will be available at various locations in July, August and September to assist eligible participants in completing Fisheries Recovery Cooperative Research Surveys.

Using federal fisheries disaster assistance funds (NOAA Grant #NA06NMF4540319), LDWF is compensating eligible participants for completing research surveys designed to gather detailed information on hurricane recovery of Louisiana’s commercial fisheries.

LDWF economists will be available to provide assistance to eligible participants in filling out their cooperative research survey at the office locations listed below.  Appointments to meet with an LDWF economist may be scheduled at any of the office locations on the dates and times specified below.  Walk-ins are welcome; however, to avoid waiting it is advised that individuals contact SCPDC to schedule appointments with LDWF economists.  SCPDC representatives will also be available to assist eligible participants at these locations and dates.

Furthermore, SCPDC is planning to schedule a number of instructional workshops across the coastal region of the state where groups of eligible participants may obtain assistance in filling out their surveys.  Seating may be limited at these workshops, thus individuals are encouraged to call SCPDC to register for a workshop in their area.

Workshop locations, dates and time will be posted on the SCPDC (www.scpdc.org/fisheriesassistance) and LDWF (www.wlf.louisiana.gov) Web sites.  Interested parties are encouraged to check these Web sites to find out if additional workshops have been scheduled.  If you are interested in scheduling a new group workshop, please contact SCPDC.  SCPDC can be reached at 1-800-630-3791 or 985-655-1051.
