Identification: 

-Upright form with an umbrella-like canopy
-Simple leaf, palmate with 3-5 lobes, 12 inches across
-Distinctive fruit with leaf-like structures and 2-3 seeds
-Smooth green bark on trunk and branches

Note:   This unusual species is native to China and Japan, but well adapted to the Southern United States.  The large leaves and flowers, unusual fruit and green bark give the Parasol Tree a tropical appearance, like a large houseplant.
