HRM Guidance for Returning to Campus
Message Updated: April 5, 2021*
As LSU continues to safely phase employees back to working on campus, certain precautions must be followed by all employees returning to campus. First, employees are reminded they are required to wear face coverings when the job or circumstances place them within six (6) feet of someone. Each employee should provide their own face covering. Additionally, employees are not to report to work if they are sick, feel sick, or have any sick symptoms. Employees are required to stay home if any signs of illness exist.
Supervisors are advised to immediately contact HRM and inform the employee they will be sent home if they do not use the appropriate face coverings when the situation requires it or if the employee shows any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Symptoms to look for include cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, and gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
If an employee is exhibiting these symptoms, they should be immediately observed (from a safe distance) by someone in a supervisory capacity and another individual (preferably another supervisory person). If an employee observes these symptoms in a coworker, they should immediately report it to their supervisor. If these symptoms are witnessed by the supervisor, the employee should be asked to voluntarily leave campus. If they refuse, immediately report the symptoms to Jennifer Normand at firstname.lastname@example.org and Niki Norton at email@example.com, who will authorize sending the employee home until appropriate medical certification from a health care professional is provided showing they are fit for duty.
Anyone who believes they have been exposed to COVID-19 should see a health care provider and, if directed, shall self-quarantine for 14 days from the date of alleged exposure.
Employees are required to notify the LSU Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of the exposure. Do this by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
