LSU Trumpet Festival 2022

The LSU School of Music is pleased to present the 2022 LSU Trumpet Festival, March 4 – 5, 2022, featuring world-renowned trumpet and jazz pedagogues, including Jean Laurenz, Ashlin Parker and the Trumpet Mafia, Wiff Rudd, and Ryan Sharp. This two-day festival event will include numerous performances open to the public, including an exciting finale at the LSU Union Theater with the LSU Jazz Ensemble and Lab Band.

On behalf of the LSU Trumpet Studio, we would like to welcome you to campus for our 2022 Trumpet Festival.

We are excited to have our esteemed guest artists Jean Laurenz, Ashlin Parker, Wiff Rudd, and Ryan Sharp here this weekend. Full of masterclasses and performances, this promises to be a truly special event!

We would like to thank our dean, Kristin Sosnowsky, and the Yamaha Corporation of America for their generous support of this event. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the LSU College of Music & Dramatic Arts staff, including Amy Trahan, Doris Butler, Zachary Hazelwood, Leonce Clement, and Cullen Sadler. We are so grateful to First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge and Lamar Drummonds for allowing us to host this event in such beautiful space and to Dick Webb for collaborating with us on the magnificent, new organ at FUMC. Finally, this event would not be possible without the musical contributions of our LSU School of Music colleagues, Ana María Otamendi, Elena Lacheva, Michael Gurt, and Hana Beloglavec. We sincerely appreciate their time, energy, and fantastic musicianship.

We hope you enjoy the festival!

Sincerely,

Matt and Jena Vangjel and the LSU Trumpet Studio
