Dr. Cecilia Kang Joins the LSU School of Music
The LSU School of Music is pleased to announce that Dr. Cecilia Kang will be joining our faculty as the Associate Professor of Clarinet, starting in Fall 2020!
Dr. Kang enjoys a multifaceted career as a performer, educator and an adjudicator. Her recent concert engagements have taken her to Canada, Denmark, Italy, Belgium, Germany, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thailand. She has made appearances at the Midwest Clinic, the College Music Society Conference, ClarinetFest, Clarinet Colloquium, International Clarinet and Saxophone Festival, and many universities and conservatories around the world. Dr. Kang has also been invited to adjudicate on behalf of the International Clarinet Association, the Music Teachers National Association, the College Music Society, the Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition and the Interflow Band Festival (Hong Kong).
Dr. Kang obtained her degrees from the University of Michigan, the University of Southern California, and the University of Toronto. During the summers, she is an artist faculty at California Orchestra Institute and InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy. A prize winner of the Canadian Music Competition and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Standard Life Competition, she has also received numerous awards and grants from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Washington DC, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Metropolitan Arts Council, the Alliance for Canadian New Music Projects, the Kingsway Foundation, and the Hendrickson Foundation.
Dr. Kang is a Vandoren and Buffet Crampon Performing Artist and Clinician.
