Camp Information

This multi-day camp is designed for high school and middle school band students in the 7th through 12th grades. Students will participate in full band rehearsals with special guest conductors. Participants will also attend a special Collage Concert, featuring the LSU Department of Bands and LSU School of Music, as well as perform in a final concert on Saturday afternoon that is free and open to the public. Students will also receive a group masterclass on their instrument and have the exciting opportunity to engage with one of the LSU concert ensembles in an interactive rehearsal. In addition, there will be special workshops designed specifically for middle and high school band directors who would like to attend, which are offered for free to those directors who have students participating.

The cost for the festival is $75, which includes:

  • All rehearsals and classes
  • Concert Performance in the state-of-the-art LSU Union Theater
  • Master Class sessions or Group lessons on your specific instrument
  • Attend Collage performance featuring LSU Wind Ensemble and chamber groups
  • Meals Included:
    • Thursday pizza dinner
    • Friday lunch at The 5 LSU dining hall - buffet style meal with many options
    • Saturday jambalaya lunch
  • Commemorative item
    • Official SOBF Letterman patch for high school students
    • Official SOBF tee shirt for middle school students

Please note: Students will be taken to the Student Union for dinner on Friday where a variety of vendors are available to choose from. It is the preference of the participants whether to bring money for food purchase or a packed meal, but no meal is provided. 

If you are unable to eat the meals provided, please plan to bring a packed meal. No special meals will be provided.

Auditions (Studios)
*Registration ends at 5:45 pm. Once auditions are completed,
students will meet at OBH for pizza and audition results.
6:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. Pizza Dinner provided
7:20 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. Seating in rehearsal location
8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. LSU Collage concert (UT)

Friday, February 7

9:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. Rehearsals
11:30 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lunch provided (5)
12:30 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Observe Open Rehearsal with LSU Wind Ensemble (TBH)/ Masterclasses
4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Rehearsals
5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Dinner (on your own in UT))
6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Rehearsals

Saturday, February 8

9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Rehearsals
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Jambalaya Lunch (provided - Greek Theater)
12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Change into Concert Attire
1:00 p.m. Final Concerts – Union Theater (free admission)
*each band should attend the other ensemble’s concert. Please
plan to stay for the entire performance.

Registration Information

An optional LSU visitor parking pass can be purchased for $10. This must be requested on your registration form and added to your final payment for you to receive the parking pass. This pass will be valid for the gravel lot at Tiger Band Hall. If you are dropping off or picking up participants only, a parking pass is not needed.

Important Notes

  • Full payment is due by registration deadline of January 22, 2020.
  • Late registrations/payments will be accepted until January 26, 2020 with the addition of a $25 late fee.
  • Registrations will not be accepted after January 26, 2020.
  • No refunds will be issued.
