Drumline | LSU Department of Bands

The LSU Tiger Band Drumline is comprised of approximately 30 members which include the following instruments:

  • 8-10 snare drums
  • 4-6 tenors
  • 6 bass drums
  • 8-10 cymbals.

Drumline auditions will be held on August 14, two days before the start of the preseason Tiger Band Camp. This camp is generally held one week before the beginning of the fall semester. Returning members must re-audition each year for the line. In addition to rehearsing with the Tiger Band, the Drumline rehearses on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings of game days.

Unlike wind players who are interested in Tiger Band, percussionists do not need to participate in Round One of auditions. We ask all interested Drumline applicants register for Round Two, the Tiger Band Camp, no later than July 1st. Those selected for the LSU Drumline at the August auditions will then immediately proceed into the Tiger Band Camp.

For all interested members for the 2021 drumline, you will need to complete the registration below. After completing this form, you will be provided a link for our Facebook audition page and a copy of the audition packet via email from one of our staff members. The traditional pre-season Drumline camps will be moved to an online format until further notice. You will load video of you performing the exercises onto an exclusive Facebook audition page or onto Youtube, mark it as an Unlisted file, and email the link of the performance to bands@lsu.edu. For any questions regarding the pre-season camps and/or the audition process, feel free to email our drumline captains Nick Ashton, nashto1@lsu.edu, or Tim Marquess, tmarqu4@lsu.edu

The 2021 LSU Drumline Handbook of audition music and exercises will be sent once interested applicants complete their registration via the member audition form.
